4 teams claimed second victories

Four teams remain unbeaten in Champions league – Moscow, Roeselare, Friedrichshafen and Rzeszow. Trentino, Macerata, Kazan, Tours can join this group today.

 

 

 

Pool A
Russian Dinamo MOSCOW notched a second victory in a row defeating Olympiacos PIRAEUS of Greece in four sets (27-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-22). Roman Yakovlev (22 points) and Ivan Miljkovic (21) were the best scorers of the match. After having sailed through the first two sets, Dinamo suffered a strong comeback of Olympiacos in the third section of the game, with Mitar Tziourits performing at his very best. Yuriy Berezhko was the key player in the fourth set and his efficiency in attack paved the way for the final 3:1. Waiting for the result of the match featuring TRENTINO BetClic and Jihostroj CESKE BUDEJOVICE, Dinamo currently tops the standings of Pool A.

Pool C
It was a big night for the Tyrolean sport and Volleyball community. Hypo Tirol INNSBRUCK showed a very exciting performance to its enthusiastic fans and supporters in the first home match of the 2009/2010 CEV Indesit Champions League – Pool C – against Noliko MAASEIK of Belgium.Hypo Tirol could take a quick lead in the beginning of ervery set and keep this gap till the end. Austrian Team Manager Hannes Kronthaler: “The team showed a perfect play under pressure and was well prepared for this game. Congratulations to the entire team and the coaching staff. This victory will hopefully give us a good momentum for the next games.”

Pool D
In front of 9,000 enthusiastic fans – PGE Skra BELCHATOW defeated Radnicki KRAGUJEVAC of Serbia 3:0 (25:20, 25:21, 25:21) and recorded the first victory in Champions league. The Polish champions performed poorly in attack but did a great job in blocking to stop the young and powerful Serbian champion.

In that same Pool Knack Randstad ROESELARE vs. CAI TERUEL started tonight in Belgium with the celebration of the second referee Dieter Bröstl who officiated his fiftieth Champions League match. The Belgians wanted to take their second victory to enhance their chances to make it to the Playoffs and eventually accomplished their goal with the final 3:1. “We play in a very strong Pool where results cannot be predicted that easily” stated after the match local coach Dominique Baeyens.

After some players suffered the swine flu last week, Panathinaikos did not have much chance to stage real training sessions. Agamez, Christofidelis, Chatziantoniou were not ready for such a difficult match and that was the key factor defining the final outcome. Coach Stelios Kazazis mentioned: “It was a well deserved victory for the guests. We were empty like the venue. It was a bad day for my team.”

CoprAtlantide defeated tonight JASTRZEBSKI Wegiel S.A. with a clear 3:0 victory. After the match lost in Germany, the Italians re-gained the right momentum even though Michal Rak couldn’t be lined up as he suffered some back pain.

Pool F
In Pool F Asseco Resovia RZESZOW seized a second victory in a row, this time against PARIS Volley with a 3:1. The French started with the right pace and the duo consisting of Bazin and Gromadowski set the pace for the final 26-24. In front of their many supporters that had traveled to Paris especially to attend the game, the guys of Asseco Resovia showed off all their offensive efficiency to finish it off with a 3:1.

ACH Volley BLED played a second five-setter in less than 7 days but this time did not leave the court with empty hands, since the Slovenians defeated ISTANBUL B.Sehir Belediyesi after an extremely tough match, featuring many ups and downs for both sides. Local captain Andrej Flajs added: “It was an exciting match, as always, and this time we managed to end it in our favor. Luckily our focus did not lapse in the final rush as this game was full of turn-arounds. The second set was crucial, since we managed to catch up with the guests and tie the set count to 1:1."
