Rennes in advanced talks to land Islam Slimani for €8m

As reported by our colleagues at Téléfoot Chaine and Foot Mercato, Rennes are in advanced negotiations to sign 32-year-old Algerian international Islam Slimani from Premier League side Leicester City for a reported €8m.

Slimani, who had exceptional season-long loan spell with AS Monaco in 2019/20, did not want to remain with the Principality club, but has the possibility of playing Champions’ League football in an eventual move to the Brittany side.

An agreement between the two clubs is close, but finer details are still be agreed upon, with a verbal agreement in place.

The Foxes have no intention of counting on a player that they signed for €30m in 2016.
