September 15, 2024 Off By EveAim

Wales have suffered a blow on the eve of their Autumn Nations Series campaign with the news that Ospreys hooker Dewi Lake has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury.

The 23-year-old sustained the injury during his team’s 32-25 defeat to the Dragons in their United Rugby Championship derby at Rodney Parade on Sunday.

Dragons hooker Bradley Roberts has replaced Lake in Wales head coach Wayne Pivac‘s 35-man squad for their end-of-year internationals, which kicks off against New Zealand in Cardiff on November 5.

Lake’s injury is the latest setback for Wales, who have already lost the services of Dan Biggar, Liam Williams, Wyn Jones, Leon Brown, Seb Davies, Johnny Williams, Josh Navidi and Taine Basham to injury.

Other players being monitored

Added to that, several other players in Pivac’s squad require monitoring in the build-up to their clash with the All Blacks at the Principality Stadium.

Amongst those are the experienced quintet of Leigh Halfpenny (hamstring strain), Josh Adams (hand), Alex Cuthbert (shoulder) and Gareth Anscombe (ribs).
