Belgian international central midfielder Marouane Fellaini has recently been the subject of an approach from Liverpool, with his current Manchester United contract expiring at the end of this season, according to L’Équipe.

Manager José Mourinho wants the Belgian to stay and sign a new deal and is growing increasingly frustrated with the situation. Chinese clubs and Turkish outfits including Besiktas have also approached the player, who would like to join a big European side instead.

Two French clubs have approached Fellaini. Monaco VP Vadim Vasilyev and manager Leonardo Jardim have both held discussions with the Belgian’s entourage, in a much more purposeful manner than their colleagues at PSG, who have held similar discussions with Fellaini’s people via Sporting Director Antero Henrique.

Henrique has informed Fellaini’s team that he is willing to give the player a three-year contract and sees him as a successor to Thiago Motta, who will take up a coaching role with the PSG U19s at the end of the current campaign.

From an FFP perspective, signing a top quality midfielder for free this summer is certainly enticing.
