AS Monaco accept in principle to sell Kylian Mbappé for €140m plus a player in exchange
AS Monaco have accepted in principle to sell French teenager Kylian Mbappé to PSG for €140m + a player in exchange, according to Le Parisien and L’Équipe.
A deal for Kylian Mbappé to PSG made considerable progress yesterday, after AS Monaco begrudgingly accepted the Frenchman’s wishes to seek to broker a deal with Les Parisiens.
Mbappé, who has already reached an agreement on salary with the club for €18m gross a year on a 5-year-contract, is hopeful that the deal will be done this weekend.
Negotiations are continuing surrounding a €140m deal plus a PSG player in exchange, and it is that second element that could still manage to ruin the deal if Les Parisiens don’t get it right.
AS Monaco’s first choice was Presnel Kimpembé, but PSG said it was out of the question for their 3rd central defender to join the Principality side. Javier Pastore and Julian Draxler have both been offered in a deal, players that Monaco are extremely are interested in, have both personally declined.
Lucas Moura, another individual offered, has also said no. He wants to stay in Paris with his best friend Neymar, with the latter also wanting the former São Paulo man to stay.
You can therefore say that the situation is blocked for the moment. Les Parisiens have calculated that paying anything more than €140m cash would put them in jeopardy with Financial Fair Play, but if they cannot find a player to send Monaco’s way, a deal will not be done.

Another condition to Monaco selling Mbappé to PSG is that the Principality side want to have lined up a replacement before accepting the deal. In this regard, they are looking at Moussa Dembélé (Celtic) and Kasper Dolberg (Ajax), but no deal is close to being done for either player at the time of writing.
