Global companies, multinational corporations and governments have finally opened their eyes towards the plastic heap of garbage the planet is turning into. Plastic being non-biodegradable in nature cannot be broken down, and therefore, is leading to widespread underground pollution.

Earlier this year, the centre and various state governments had banned use of plastic with thickness less than 50 microns. So, what are these rules regarding thickness of plastic? The thickness of plastic determines its strength, the thicker the plastic, the higher its cost.

The plastic bags and wrappings that are widely used in vegetable markets are very thin in nature, which are much less than 50 microns in thickness hence, their cost is also cheaper.
