TUSCALOOSA, AL — Protesters have raised enough money to bring ‘Baby Trump,’ a blimp portraying President Donald Trump as a baby in a foul mood and a common symbol seen at protests around the world, to the Alabama-LSU game in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

The president’s visit has further raised the profile of the high stakes game between the no.1 and no.2 ranked college football teams in the country.

An online fundraiser raising money to bring the blimp to Saturday’s game has raised more than $4000, the amount organizers said was needed to transport and set up the giant balloon.

Nic Gulas, an organizer behind the GoFundMe, told The Tuscaloosa News he was surprised it only took 10 hours to raise the money.

“The biggest thing now is finding a place as close as we can possibly get to Bryant-Denny, which may be the most difficult part,” Gulas told the paper.

Any extra money from the fundraiser will be donated to the Equal Justice Inititative in Montgomery, Gulas wrote on Twitter.

Trump’s appearance at the football game Saturday is his third sporting event in less than a month. He attended Game 5 of the World Series between the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals where he was greeted with loud boos when his image was flashed on the screen. At an Ultimate Fighting Championship event in New York City over the weekend, Trump was also met by a hostile crowd.

However, Trump has enjoyed consistently high approval ratings in Alabama. A Morning Consult poll from October shows that 59 percent of voters approve of the president in Alabama. According to the poll, since taking his office, Trump’s net approval in Alabama has dropped 15 percentage points.

‘Baby Trump’ first made its appearance in the United Kingdom in 2018 and has since appeared at various protests around the world and in the U.S.
