Neville Reportedly No Longer Under Contract to WWE
It has just been reported that Neville is no longer under any sort of contract with WWE. Neville reportedly walked out on the company nearly one year ago after he had decided to continue his wrestling career with the goal of establishing himself elsewhere. Neville has not appeared on WWE programming at all in months, but he remained under contract with the company up until recently as WWE decided to have him wait out the remainder of his deal before allowing him to continue wrestling. Although some fans remained optimistic that WWE and Neville could have an open discussion about a return and would be able to clear up their issues, Pro Wrestling Sheet says that talks fell through and that Neville is now gone from the company.
Neville appears to be gone from WWE now, which is a shame since he had received praise from fans for his in-ring work and his promo ability during his time in WWE. After competing on the independent circuit for years as Pac, the young wrestler was signed by WWE in 2012 to compete for the NXT brand as Adrian Neville. He became a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion and an NXT Champion before he was sent to the main roster in 2015. He continued to wrestle on Raw and SmackDown before he was moved to the Cruiserweight division in late 2016. Neville adopted a heel persona and won the Cruiserweight Championship before he suddenly dropped the title in September of last year. It was reported weeks later that Neville had decided to quit WWE because he was unhappy and wanted to compete elsewhere.
Although Neville will be missed in a WWE ring, this could potentially be fantastic news for the independent wrestling scene. There is currently no word on whether or not Neville will have to wait out WWE’s standard 90-day no-compete clause, which would cause him to miss All In on September 1st, but New Japan Pro Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, or the thriving UK independent wrestling circuit could all benefit from having Neville signed as soon as possible. Details on Neville’s next step in his career remain scarce at the moment, and WWE has yet to confirm Neville’s release, but it seems like it will only be a matter of time before the British wrestler finally makes his return to the ring now that he is finished wrestling in WWE.
