NXT/Mae Young Classic Superstar Has Just Been Released From WWE
The Mae Young Classic tournament returns to the WWE Network later on this year, and it will likely feature 32 female competitors fighting for a trophy in Full Sail University once again. WWE officials are reportedly speaking with potential members of the tournament right now, and it is believed that the tournament will feature a decent blend of brand new performers and familiar talent who may have been involved in last year’s show. Unfortunately, it now appears that one of the participants from the show last summer will not be involved in the show or with the NXT brand going forward. It was reported earlier today that a female member of the NXT roster was just released from the company.
With names such as Io Shirai, Toni Storm, Deonna Purrazzo, and Xia Brookside all reportedly signing or negotiating with WWE at the moment, that likely means that there will be a few cuts made to the NXT women’s division very soon. Case in point, it has just been reported by Squared Circle Sirens that Zeda has been released from the company and will not be competing in WWE anymore. Multiple other sources have since been able to confirm the release. Fellow Mae Young Classic competitors Abbey Laith and Sage Beckett were also released from WWE earlier this year with budget cuts being cited as the reason for both instances. Zeda had been a member of the NXT roster since January 2017.

Zeda had made a few televised NXT appearances during her time in WWE. She most notably competed in the Mae Young Classic tournament last year, wherein she lost to current NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler in the first round. She mostly competed on NXT live events and trained in the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Zeda is still very young and has a legitimate fighting background as she is undefeated in MMA competition. Despite this, she posted a message stating “I’ll be back” on Twitter shortly after the news of her WWE release was reported, which likely means that she will continue her wrestling career elsewhere starting very soon.
