Of course, Jack isn’t the only notable breakup Dunham’s endured in the public eye. The Girls creator and her longtime producing partner Jenni Konner went their separate ways earlier this year, announcing the dissolvement of their production company over the summer and the subsequent end to their female empowerment newsletter, Lenny Letter, just last month.

“Maybe my illness made me impossible to be close to, maybe my fame made me impossible to be close to … I’ll work that stuff out in the future, but I was not operating in healthy relationship to the people closest to me,” Dunham said in reference to her professional and personal relationship with Konner. “Now she doesn’t have to absorb whatever bullshit I tweet that day,” she continued. “Whatever I do doesn’t have to now be hers, which, I’m sure I’d imagine if I were her, would be a relief.”

Perhaps Dunham’s relationship with the world at large can be best described with her own words: “Yeah, I’m not for everyone.”
