After Divorce Rumors, Victoria Beckham Says She Is “Trying to Be the Best Wife”

If you wanna be Victoria Beckham’s lover, you’d better prepare to support her career.

Earlier this month, Posh Spice and her husband of nearly 19 years David Beckham shot down rumors of an impending divorce, and now, Victoria wants you to know there’s no trouble in paradise. (If you’ve thought about slipping into David’s DMs, don’t.)

At the Forbes Women’s Summit in New York on Tuesday, she reportedly discussed her work-life balance, and how she and David handle the responsibilities of raising their four children: Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, Cruz, 13, and Harper, 6. “I try really, really hard. I try hardest to be the best mother,” she said. “I am trying to be the best wife and the best professional. When I get home I try to put the phone down and spend time with the children and spend time with David.”

Victoria runs her eponymous, successful fashion label while David plays for Miami’s Major League Soccer team, causing them to split their time between Miami and London. “I have the incredible support of my husband,” Victoria added. “We really are equal with everything we do at home with the children. When I’m away he’s the one doing the school run and doing the cooking.”

At home, she’ll quickly step away to keep her company in check. “I’ve been known to hide in the bathroom at weekends just to send a little email,” she said. She also discussed how she and David are raising their only daughter, Harper, with a feminist mentality. “When I take Harper to school I tell her, ‘Harper, you’re a girl and you can do anything’ … She’s a strong woman … She wants to be an inventor. She’s a strong, smart woman. A little woman.”

On Instagram—the unofficial love barometer—Victoria and David have continued to share sappy snaps of their kids and of each other. She’s called him “the best daddy” and he shared an image of them together at dinner just last week.
