Ring Announcer: Justin Roberts
Welcome to the dark match that took place on this week’s SmackDown! tapings. Just like they did with Harry Smith and Carlito in Birmingham, England last week it looks like WWE may be airing a weekly dark match which sounds good to me. Cole welcomes us aboard amidst a big vote for JBL banner which is stretched across the announcer’s desk. Both Cole and JBL also sport vote for JBL badges.
Kenny Dykstra w/Victoria vs Chuck Palumbo w/o Michelle McCool
Kenny gets a second chance with the much travelled Victoria following Chris Masters’s recent elbow injury. Michelle McCool is probably selling the beatdown Victoria gave her last week which explains her absence here. JBL puts over Chuck’s brother Chris for his efforts with the troops in Afghanistan while Cole reveals Chuck is currently building custom made bikes for both Batista and Rey Mysterio. Victoria plants a kiss on Kenny who then talks trash to Chuck. After backing him into a corner, Chuck catches Kenny’s boot before pulling him in for a clothesline. Chuck lands a backelbow then a side headlock takedown for a one count. Chuck slams but misses a legdrop, Kenny hits some shots to the back before Chuck counters a delayed vertical suplex for a nearfall. Kenny seeks solace in the ropes, Chuck takes him to the corner to Irish whip. Chuck charges but Kenny gets his feet up to kick Chuck away. Kenny sends Chuck to the outside via the ringpost. Kenny goes out to punch Chuck back inside where Kenny works over Chuck in the corner with a series of boots to the chest and arm. Kenny ties Chuck’s arm up in the bottom rope. Kenny pulls Chuck from the corner to drop an elbow then apply a cross armbar. Chuck gets up, backing Kenny into the corner to get free. Kenny quickly comes back with a chopblock and several shots to the arm to regain control. Kenny goes back to the cross armbar and the crowd chant Kenny sucks. Chuck forearms free, ducks a clothesline then catches Kenny in a powerslam. Chuck knocks Kenny down into the corner with a couple of punches before bringing him out of the corner with a hiptoss. Chuck delivers a belly-to-back overthrow suplex before firing up. Chuck nails a big boot off the ropes then hits the Full Throttle. That as JBL says is ‘Ball Game’. 1-2-3. Here is Your Winner: CHUCK PALUMBO. Post match, Victoria looks on in dismay as Chuck poses in the corner then favours his arm a little before riding off. JBL goes into overdrive repeatedly telling us to vote for JBL at Cyber Sunday as Cole thanks us for watching and wraps things up.
Here’s what I voted for Cyber Sunday tomorrow night along with my reasoning:-
Jeff Hardy gives the fans something different. Nothing against Shawn Michaels but Jeff’s opportunity/time is now. I implore you all to VOTE FOR JEFF HARDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mick Foley and the Deadman still have unfinished business. (King of the Ring 98 cell toss anybody?) We can still get our Stone Cold fix. Just have him interrupt a segment with Santino Marella instead.
John Morrison vs CM Punk is the best solution.
No DQ Match (Rey Mysterio vs Finlay) Better than the goofy shillelagh on a pole stipulation.
Cage Match (Triple H vs Umaga) A Street Fight is the same as a No DQ and I’ve picked that option once so I’ll plump for the cage.
Boxing Match (Matt Hardy vs MVP) They should only wrestle when the title’s at stake. When the match finally does happen it will mean the world as the buildup and feud has beeen done superbly thus far. Kudos.
See you tomorrow for Heat. Shaun. Comments/praise/feedback/criticism/discussion points please direct to [email protected].
