Kofi Kingston vs Samoa Joe Set For WWE Extreme Rules

Kofi Kingston will defend the WWE Championship against a brand new challenger at next month’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, and it might just be his biggest obstacle yet.

Following a random attack at the hands of Samoa Joe during this week’s Monday Night Raw, WWE officials have confirmed that the two will collide with the world title on the line. The “Samoan Submission Machine” just lost the U.S. Championship this past weekend at Stomping Grounds, and seems to be lashing out as a result.

Dolph Ziggler was given an opportunity to be added to the match, making it a triple threat, but facing the champion in a Two Out of Three Falls match on Smackdown Live. He was unsuccessful in the bout, however, so for the time being it will remain a singles contest between Kingston and Joe.

WWE Extreme Rules airs live on July 14th from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. Also confirmed for the show is a mixed tag team match pitting Universal Champion Seth Rollins and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch against Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, in a winners-take-all scenario with both belts on the line.
