WWE Money in the Bank 2018 Review: Team Little Big Rules All

WWE Money in the Bank took place Sunday night at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Following a very successful and widely acclaimed NXT Takeover show on Saturday night, the main roster had a tough act to follow after both Richochet-Velveteen Dream and Gargano-Ciampa II put on potential match of the year candidates. But, given two very well-done ladder matches, a cataclysmic brawl for the WWE Championship and a number of surprises sprinkled throughout the night, Money in the Bank stood on its own as a successful pay-per-view.

Chicago gave Daniel Bryan one of his biggest ovations since returning to the ring earlier this year. Conversely, Big Cass was met with a chorus of boos and numerous “Big Cass Sucks” chants from the Allstate Arena, most likely due to a mix of their love of Bryan and their dislike of Cass’ lackluster promos and mannerisms since returning from an ACL tear back in April. Both men tried to tell competing stories in the ring with Bryan targeting Cass’ knees and Cass focusing on Bryan’s mid-section trying to crush him like a June bug. Bryan had arguably the spot of the match where he channeled his inner Kofi Kingston to jump from the turnbuckle to the outside, flying through the air before crashing into Cass’ seven-foot frame. Overall, this was a much better match (with a much better ending with Cass taking more than a few seconds to tap to the Heel Hook) than their first bout at Backlash back in May.
