As Fear Grips Sri Lanka, Christians Attend Sunday Mass Through Television Programme
Amid chaos and fear of attacks, Sri Lanka witnessed a countrywide shutdown of almost everything-including the Churches and the Catholics observed Sunday Mass in their home through the televised broadcast. It has been a week on Sunday when the island nation was rocked by a series of blasts in people praying on Easter Sunday Mass in Churches and other places such as five star hotels which left over 250 dead and more than 500 injured.
A homily was delivered by Cadinal Malcolm, Ranjith, the archbishop of Colombo before the members of the clergy gathered in the chapel at his residence in Colombo and this measure was taken as the country is still in the grip of fear after last week’s blasts.
“This is a time our hearts are tested by the great destruction that took place last Sunday,” Ranjith said.

“This is a time questions such as, does God truly love us, does He have compassion towards us, can arise in human hearts.”
