Writer/Director of the critically-acclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy movies James Gunn came under fire after some controversial tweets surfaced. Gunn was subsequently fired from the film series when conservative personalities pointed out what was supposed to come off as humor about topics such as pedophilia and rape. You can see the tweets for yourself below.

One of the stars of the Guardians movies, former WWE superstar Batista was less than happy with the treatment of Gunn, saying that he is one of the most “loving, good natured people” he has ever met and that he is “not OK” with what happened to him. Batista plays Drax in the movies and has recently appeared in the newest iteration of the Avengers movies, “Infinity War”.

I will have more to say but for right now all I will say is this..@JamesGunn is one of the most loving, caring, good natured people I have ever met. He’s gentle and kind and cares deeply for people and animals. He’s made mistakes. We all have. Im NOT ok with what’s happening to him

Gunn has since apologized, saying that he has regretted his comments for many years.

“”My words of nearly a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative,” his statement read. “I have regretted them for many years since — not just because they were stupid, not at all funny, wildly insensitive, and certainly not provocative like I had hoped, but also because they don’t reflect the person I am today or have been for some time.”
