Davey Boy Smith Jr. (Harry Smith) Has Reportedly Left NJPW
Three-time IWGP Tag Team Champion Davey Boy Smith Jr. (real name: Harry Smith) has left New Japan Pro-Wrestling, according to a new report from F4WOnline.com.
Smith, 33, has been wrestling for most of his life, and was trained in the Hart family dungeon by Bruce Hart as well as his father, the late “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith.
He signed a WWE developmental contract in 2006 shortly after Bret Hart was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and would later form a tag team known as the Hart Dynasty with TJ Wilson (aka Tyson Kidd), winning the WWE Tag Team Championships and the WWE World Tag Team Championships.
In 2012, Smith would sign with NJPW as a member of Minoru Suzuki’s stable Suzuki-gun, where he has remained ever since. He is perhaps best known for being one half of the tag team Killer Elite Squad, along with fellow heavyweight big man Lance Archer.
He has won titles all around the world including WWE, NJPW, Pro Wrestling Noah, Revolution Pro Wrestling in the UK, the NWA, FCW, Impact Wrestling’s short-lived Ring Ka King expansion, FCW, World of Sport and more!
While it’s not clear where exactly Harry Smith will end up next, F4WOnline.com has also stated that rumors of him going to Ring of Honor are, at this point, inaccurate. It’s worth noting that he and Teddy Hart (as the Hart Foundation, along with Brian Pillman Jr.) are the current MLW World Tag Team Champions.
As for Lance Archer, it would appear that he will remain on in NJPW going forward, as the Suzuki-gun stable member has been announced for this year’s G1 Climax tournament.
