Jose Mourinho and Roma in talks with PSG for Georginio Wijnaldum
As reported by L’Equipe, Italian side AS Roma have made the signing of PSG midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum their priority target the rest of the summer transfer window.
The 31-year-old former Liverpool man endured a torrid season in Ligue 1 after signing last summer. Often anonymous and ineffectual in games, the Dutchman was named GFFN’s Flop of the Season for the 21/22 campaign. Following the arrival of Luis Campos as de-facto sporting director, Wijnaldum was included on a list of 11 names PSG want to sell this off-season and was subsequently left out of Paris’ pre-season tour party that travelled to Japan last week.
Reports from Italy say coach Jose Mourinho has already spoken to the player about the move while Roma have been in contact with PSG over signing him for several days now. The midfielder has stated he wants to join the Serie A side but the financial situation remains complex, say the sports daily.
