Marseille look to sell Konrad de la Fuente and Cédric Bakambu to make way for Alexis Sánchez
L’Équipe report today that Marseille are looking to free up space on their wage bill to make way for the arrival of Alexis Sánchez, with notably Konrad de la Fuente and Cédric Bakambu being lined up for summer departures.
The American wide man is closing in on a move to Valladolid, in what could be a loan deal with permanent option that would be automatically triggered should he make a set number of appearances for the Spanish side.
The OM management are confident over getting the deal over the line, with De la Fuente remaining under contract for another three years, but having faded away this season after initially showing promise after his move from Barcelona.
Bakambu, who arrived in January and scored four goals in the second half of the season, has interest from Celta Vigo. The club are looking to move on the 31-year-old and his high salary, as he remains under contract until 2024. The former Sochaux man is himself keen on the move to Galicia.
Should negotiations with the La Liga side fall through, Marseille will be short on other options for departures, given that Bamba Dieng intends to stay, while president Pablo Longoria has placed his faith in Arkadiusz Milik ahead of the team’s Champions League campaign.
