The Elite had been a dominant force in New Japan Pro Wrestling with leader Kenny Omega holding the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and with Matt & Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks each claiming the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships. That all changed last night when The Bucks were defeated for their titles by Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa of The Firing Squad. The win took place during last night’s Fighting Spirits Unleashed show in Long Beach, California, and this kickstarts the fourth official reign for the Guerillas of Destiny. The reign from the previous title holders, The Young Bucks, has been capped off at 112 days. Tama Tonga decided to comment on his victory on social media shortly after he won the titles with Tanga Loa.

After impressing the right officials backstage in WWE with her outstanding matches from this year and last year’s Mae Young Classic tournament, Mia Yim was signed to a WWE contract a few weeks ago, thus officially making her part of the NXT roster. Yim continues to appear on the ongoing Mae Young Classic show, and although she has not wrestled on NXT television ever since her signing was first reported, she did make her in-ring debut for an NXT live event last night. Yim wrestled in Fort Pierce, Florida and she went on to win her first NXT match after by pinning Aliyah for the victory. Mia Yim will likely keep training at the WWE Performance Center until WWE announces more NXT appearances for the young wrestler.
