French outlet Le Parisien this evening are reporting that PSG are preparing for the departure of French international midfielder Adrien Rabiot this January.

Les Parisiens know that by the 1st of January, with Rabiot’s contract out at the end of the season, the Frenchman will be able to sign for any club of his choosing.

Rabiot has been giving mixed signals about his true intentions – at the end of this summer, he had told people in private that he was leaving, but weeks later, with his relationship with Thomas Tuchel improving, the PSG staff were led to believe that he would be signing a new deal.

Having been given the run around for months now, PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique is not ruling out seeking to sell the player in January, with the player’s entourage now forced to deny the existence of a verbal agreement with Barcelona after a story published last Thursday by Mundo Deportivo.

Which club would pay money for Rabiot when they could get him for free next summer? PSG believe that there is sufficient interest to drive a bidding war for European clubs to pay in order to bank his signing already in January, to the tune of at least €10m.

The outlet claims that the sides most likely to partake in such a deal at present are either Tottenham Hotspur or Juventus. Such a deal would save PSG’s honour somewhat in ensuring that the 23-year-old does not leave for free, and Rabiot would get his move – seemingly a win-win.

Nasser Al Khelaifi has not given up on Rabiot signing an extension and Thomas Tuchel intends to refuse the sale if the side qualifies for knockout rounds of the Champions’ League.
