Former New England Patriots star tight end Rob Gronkowski is getting into the CBD business. Gronkowski implored the sports world to open up to using CBD to help athletes recover from pain and injuries in a much-hyped announcement about the “next chapter” of his career that turned out to be a free advertisement for the company CBDMEDC.

“You can just call me Mr. Recovery,” said, before ceding the floor to someone no one tuned in to see to talk about CBD. Gronkowski made the announcement at 9:30 a.m. in New York City, two weeks after a press release telling the world he would announce what’s next for him.

Gronkowski said he’s now pain-free five months after retiring from a career that saw him go under the knife nine times. He talked about being in tears unable to sleep for more than 20 minutes the night after the last Super Bowl victory because of a quad injury.

“I decided to walk away from the game for one main reason: I had to recover,” Gronkowski said.

Patriots fans hoping for Gronkowski announcing his imminent return to the team were surely disappointed.

“Not in the foreseeable future, in like a week or a month,” Gronkowski said when asked if he saw himself returning to the team.

Gronkowski said that physically he could play today, but “mentally, desire-wise, I can’t.”

Gronkowski’s announcement was a letdown for those hoping to see his next step in the public spotlight would be. The affable star loves a good time, and he’s already been involved in a WrestleMania. There’s also been whispers about Hollywood calling his name.

Gronkowski retired in March, a month after winning his third Super Bowl with New England. He had a history serious injuries, but an early exit and lost seasons didn’t keep him from becoming the most unstoppable tight end in NFL history.
