Vickie Guerrero Says She Would Like To See Chris Benoit In The WWE Hall Of Fame

Former WWE personality Vickie Guerrero recently sat down with Chris Van Vliet for an excellent interview talking about what she’s been up to since leaving the wrestling world, as well as the many roles she played on WWE television over her storied, if infamous career.

You can check out the entire video interview down below, as well as our transcripts featuring some of the highlights.

ON DEALING WITH HEAT FROM THE FANS OVER THE YEARS WHO QUESTIONED HER GETTING INTO THE WRESTLING BUSINESS AFTER EDDIE GUERRERO’S DEATH:

“I had the odds against me. I was Eddie’s wife, and everyone thought that I was being handed the job because Eddie had passed away. It was a lot of things against me, and I had to earn my way to have that love from the fans, and to find a character that was going to work for me. When I found this character with Edge, it just started falling in place and we had a good time with it.”

“It was hard because I think fans hated me, because — how could Eddie’s wife go and work in the WWE after he passed away? I did have a little bit of history working with him before, so we just wanted to try and see if it worked. I enjoyed it. I was hooked.”

“When you have fans outside the arena that tell you horrible things — that you don’t deserve this, you have to have a thick skin. But I knew the reality from fiction, and so I knew that I had a job to do to be a character. Just watching Eddie through the years, I knew that he had a thick skin too. I had some good mentors to follow, so it didn’t bother me too much.”

SASHA BANKS BEING INSPIRED BY EDDIE GUERRERO:

“She’s incredible. I got to finally work with her, and sit down and talk to her last year at the Royal Rumble. She’s incredible, and such a fantastic person. We had a great time sitting down and talking.”

VICKIE’S THOUGHTS ON CHRIS BENOIT POTENTIALLY BEING INDUCTED INTO THE WWE HALL OF FAME SOME DAY:

“I don’t think so, because he’s not even existing with the WWE, as far as documentaries or history. It’s a sad situation. I loved Chris Benoit, a lot. His family was our family. His wife Nancy, and his son Daniel — we were close friends. We were all really close. I wasn’t there when it happened, I don’t understand why it happened, but I still love him. Aside from all that, he loved us and he respected us.”

“I would like to see that. Aside from everything, Chris Benoit was a talented wrestler and he had his own legacy. I think that it shouldn’t be ignored. It’s sad how things turned out, but I would like to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame.”

ON WWE SUPERSTAR AIDEN ENGLISH MARRYING HER DAUGHTER SHAUL GUERRERO:

“Aiden English married my daughter. I think if Eddie was around he’d be flipping over in his grave. [Laughs] He’s a great guy. I love him very much. He’s good to Shaul, and he’s a success story. He’s a talented wrestler, and now he’s commentating, so he has many talents that they can focus on. I can’t be more proud of him.” … “He’s incredible. He has so much discipline in keeping himself in shape, and his eating habits, and working out. It’s just incredible.”
