Vikings Head to Wisconsin for Jim Koch Open
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Augustana wrestling team heads to Kenosha, Wisconsin, this weekend to compete in the 48th Annual Jim Koch Open. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The University of Wisconsin Parkside Rangers will host the event. The Vikings and Rangers will dual just 13 days later on Dec. 20 at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls.
Augustana is one 17 teams competing this weekend in Kenosha. It will compete against Augustana (IL), Chicago, Davenport, Findlay, Harper College, Iowa, Joliet JC, Maryville, McKendree, Northwestern, SIU Edwardsville, Triton College, Wisconsin, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh and host UW-Parkside.
The Vikings
Through three tournaments this season, the Vikings have nine first-place finishers and have had at least one in every tournament. Including tournaments and duals, redshirt freshmen Steven Hajas leads the Vikings in falls (six), Jacob Tvinnereim leads the Vikings in major decisions (four) and Hunter Burnett leads in tech falls (four).

Wrestler To Watch
After losing his first bout of the season at the Jimmie Open, redshirt junior Brandon Carroll has won nine-consecutive decisions, including the lone Viking win against NDSU last weekend.

One Last Thing
The Vikings, who have yet to wrestle at home this season, will compete in their fifth different state this weekend when they visit Wisconsin. Augustana has two more states (Iowa and Minnesota) in which it will compete this season, before the National Championships take place in Sioux Falls.
