The dissenters shouted ‘Macron resign!’ as they blocked major routes and highways in 2,039 protests at roundabouts and motorway exits, according to interior ministry figures.

The ‘Yellow Vest’ movement erupted on social media last month when the French citizens said that an increase in fuel taxes was driving the prices to such a high level, one that hasn’t been witnessed since the early 2000s.
